| Method Title |
Screening for Chloramphenicol by ELISA |
| Method Date |
2012/07/23 |
| Method Type |
Screening |
| Scope and Application |
This method is suitable for screening for the presence of chloramphenicol in poultry, beef, swine and catfish muscle.
|
| Method Summary |
Homogenized tissue is extracted by centrifugation in ethyl acetate and the extract evaporated to dryness. The residue is dissolved in n-hexane before adding a sample dilution buffer followed by further centrifugation. Aliquots of the lower aqueous layer
are then analysed by Competitive ELISA. The plate reader is set at 450 nm. |
| Applicable Concentration Range |
Chloramphenoicol may be detected in poultry, beef, swine and catfish muscle at the concentration level of ≥ 0.25 µg kg-1
