ALMERA proficiency test IAEA-CU-2011 on the determination of natural and artificial radionuclides in soil and water

Proceed to data-reporting

The IAEA Environment Laboratories (IAEA-EL) are planning to organize a proficiency test for ALMERA network on the determination of natural and artificial radionuclides in soil and water according to the following schedule:

  • Target group:

ALMERA Network laboratories interested in the analysis of natural and artificial radionuclides radionuclides in environmental samples

  • Matrix:
    • Milled, dried and sterilized soil from Chernobyl area,
    • Tap water spiked with tritium and gamma emitting radionuclides.
  • Sample Set: Each participant will receive one soil sample (~200 g) and 3 water samples (~500 ml).
  • Target analytes (tentative):

In Soil: K-40, Sr-90, Cs-137, Pb-210, Ra-226, U-234, U-238, Pu-238, Pu-239+240 and Am-241.
In water: H-3, Co-60, Cs-134, Cs-137 and Eu-152.

These analytes will be evaluated against pre-established reference values and associated uncertainties.

  • Target dates (tentative):

18 May 2011                        - Opening date for on-line registration

30 June 2011                       - Closing date for on-line registration

30 July 2011                        - Organizer confirmation of the participation in the PT

15 October 2011                 - Shipment of the samples

30 January 2012                  - Results submission deadline*

15 March 2012                     - Individual evaluation reports

30 June 2012                       - Draft of summary report

30 September 2012             - Final of summary report

*Results submission deadline for rapid reporting of gamma emitting radionuclides is three working days from the date of samples receipt confirmed by the forwarder
