Application to participate in the Worldwide proficiency test IAEA-TEL-2011-03 on the determination of natural and artificial radionuclides in soil and water

The IAEA Environment Laboratories (IAEA-EL) are planning to organize a proficiency test on the determination of natural and artificial radionuclides in soil and water according to the following schedule:
Target group: Worldwide laboratories interested in the analysis of natural and artificial radionuclides radionuclides in environmental samples
Matrix: Milled, dried and sterilized soil from Chernobyl area,
Tap water spiked with tritium and gamma emitting radionuclides.
Sample Set: Each participant will receive one soil sample (~200 g) and 3 water samples (~500 ml).
Target analytes (tentative):
in soil: K-40, Sr-90, Cs-137, Pb-210, Ra-226, U-234, U-238, Pu-238, Pu-239+240 and Am-241.
in water: H-3, Co-60, Cs-134, Cs-137 and Eu-152.
These analytes will be evaluated against pre-established reference values and associated uncertainties.
Target dates (tentative):
20 May 2011 - Opening date for on-line registration
30 June 2011 - Closing date for on-line registration
30 July 2011 - Organizer confirmation of the participation in the PT
15 October 2011 - Shipment of the samples
15 March 2012 - Results submission deadline
15 April 2012 - Individual evaluation reports
30 July 2012 - Draft of summary report
30 December 2012 - Final of summary report
