Abstract

Three doses (50, 100 and 150 Gy) of gamma irradiation were tested against full – grown male and female pupae or against full grown male or female pupae of A.ipsilon. The results showed that fecundity of irradiated females crossed with irradiated males was decreased by increasing irradiation dose. The mean number of eggs /♀ was 316 ± 17.3, 250.7 ± 28 and 50.3 ± 10.5 at 50, 100 and 150 Gy, respectively vs. 1172.3 ± 64 for the control. In addition, the decrease in egg – hatchability % and increase in sterility % induced by gamma irradiation were found to be positively correlated with the dose.
