Scope and Application For determination of Abamectin (Avermectin B1) residues in fruits and vegetables at the reporting limit of 0.003 microgram per gram.
Method Summary A thawed sample (10.0 g) is homogenized in acetonitrile, water and hexane and extracted repeatedly by centrifugation in hexane followed by cleanup on a Sep-Pak Vac aminopropyl (NH2) SPE column. The analyte is finally eluted into a silylated centrifuge tube using acetone and methylene chloride. Derivatization is achieved using NMIM/ACN, TFAA/CAN and methanolic ammonium hydroxide. The sample is then diluted in methanol prior to analysis by HPLC-FL using a Zorbax, SB-C18, 4.6, 250 mm, 5 micrometre analytical column for separation.
Applicable Concentration Range Abamectin may be detected in fruits and vegetables in the concentration range 0.003 - 0.010 microgram per gram.
