The main objective of the workshop was to provide a review of the fundamentals involved in the particle and X-ray matter interactions that can induce changes in materials. To minimize this effect, strategies were proposed to detect and monitor any changes before, during and after the experiments with a possibility to intervene the analysis. Hands-on demonstrations were performed at the Synchrotron SOLEIL facility. These visits illustrated the concepts presented during the workshop, showed radiation changes in real conditions and the strategies implemented to monitor and mitigate these phenomena on specific analytical installations.
