Objectives
The objective of this meeting is to develop an understanding of the licensing processes for the
remediation of legacy sites and former uranium production sites with a focus on Central Asia and to
share experiences and lessons from Member States who have developed regulatory infrastructure and
associated policy and strategies for licensing and supervision of remediation activities that could be
relevant within the national regulatory frameworks of Member States of Central Asia.
Target Audience
The Member States and international organizations invited to take part in this event are either already
actively participating in the RSLS and CGULS or have uranium legacy sites and former uranium mining
and processing facilities and have experience that is relevant for the licensing of remediation projects.
Member States are strongly encouraged to identify suitable women participants.
