Entity code MET10
CAS registry No. 41295-28-7
Family
Functions Herbicide
Chemical name 4-methoxy-3,3'-dimethylbenzophenone (IUPAC) (EN)
Synonyms
Trade names Kayametone (Nippon Kayaku); NK-049 (Nippon Kayaku)
Other names

Fate
Environmental: In soil, undergoes metabolism to the corresponding acid, with further photolytic degradation. Half-life in soil is ca. 9-13 days. Animals: In animals, following oral administration, methoxyphenone and its metabolites are rapidly excreted in the faeces and urine. No bioaccumulation.

Toxicology
Mammals: Acute oral LD50 for rats >5000, mice >4000 mg/kg. Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats >5000 mg/kg. In 90-day feeding trials, no-effect level for rats was 1500 mg/kg diet, and for mice 1000 mg/kg diet. Fish: LC50 (48 hours) for carp 3.2, goldfish 10 mg/l.
