System Dynamics Models of Nuclear Energy Systems (NES): NES Simulators
Experience has shown that simulators are effective tools that allow education and training for a broad range of target groups with varying needs. The NES simulators present a very convenient way of learning the specificities of a nuclear system, including the material flows and economics. The simulator can be a very useful tool for training the beginners and young professionals. It can help develop insight into the main aspects related nuclear fuel cycles and highlight the major issues like nuclear material handling and storage particularly at the back end. These simulators are used for INPRO training activities and and can be used for teaching and research at the academic institutions. This tool can also be used by experts and researchers for making initial comparison of alternative NES systems in terms of nuclear material flows and economics.
The set of the simple models of a nuclear energy system includes the following simulators:
All these models were developed in accordance with the recent requirements regarding the specification of models of nuclear energy systems for scenario analysis in terms of details and assumptions.
