The camera inspections check for instances of any abnormalities in the brick bore such as cracks, abrasion, defects and trepanned holes. Any abnormality observed is assessed and graded, according to its significance, against a pre-determined scale. The entire inspection process is recorded on video and independently reviewed soon after the channel camera inspection has been completed.
The assessed abnormalities are passed on for review by the Graphite Assessment Panel (GAP) which compares the results, along with any relevant CBMU and historical data, against the predicted condition of the core. The impact of the findings on the Core Safety Case and any further action required is identified and recorded.
