5.2.2 Communicate Contract Terms & Conditions

Anyone engaged in managing suppliers needs to read and fully understand the contract terms and conditions, otherwise they will be at a permanent disadvantage should any issues arise. It is essential that the contract owner and manager are engaged from the early stages of the contracting process, and participate in the development of contract terms & conditions.

Individuals involved in managing contractor performance need to be trained as to the specifics of the contract’s terms and conditions. Individuals with a need to know include contract managers, administrators and monitors, as well as any individual that interfaces with the contractor in a product acceptance or review role (e.g. designers, ‘informed customer’ personnel, auditors, inspectors, etc.).
